job description - Warehouse & Logistics Manager

  •   To provide leadership and management of the receiving, dispatch and assembly teams. This includes training, payroll issues, discipline, time and attendance and performance of his\her team. 
  •     Ensuring that all procedures applicable to receiving, dispatch, weighing and organizing operations are followed at all times. 
  •     Ensure efficiency and effectiveness of the transport planning function to achieve OTIF deliveries and maintain OTIF targets. 
  •     Maintenance of the receiving, dispatch, organizing, weighing and silos SHEQ & Food safety documentation, to ensure that this documentation is current, and representative of the procedures required. 
  •     Conducts month end reconciliations of consignment stocks with the assistance of the auto reconciliation system, communicating the usages to the suppliers and agreeing these reconciliations with the suppliers so that Kerry can be         invoiced according to usage. 
  •     Looks for continuous improvement solutions for increased efficiency of materials handling and stock control within the areas of his\her responsibility. 
  •     Conducts food safety and hygiene walkabouts with the Management audit team. 
  •     Conducts cycle counts and full stock counts of all items in his\her area and makes stock adjustments as required. 
  •     Ensures that the factory is kept supplied with Pallets by checking pallet stocks each day and ensuring that the pallet deliveries arrive as agreed. 
  •     Conducts stock takes of the entire site, follows up on variances and updates the stocks via the Inventory control system. 
  •     Arranges for suppliers to collect used bulk containers, removes unwanted empty bulk bags from site via negotiations with interested parties and contacts the waste management Company for ad hoc removal of unwanted materials. 
  •     Sits on the SHEQ committee and is a stacking inspector, required to conduct stacking inspections on a weekly basis. 
  •     Ensure all relevant standards as per the Food Safety Programme are complied with within division / department. 

Qualifications and skills

  •     Relevant qualification of Tertiary Logistics or Warehouse Management or related, Degree level preferred.
  •     Minimum of 5 year’s experience in a Senior Operations position / ideally minimum 5 years as a Warehouse Manager.
  •     Knowledge of Logistics and/or Supply Chain Management and or Warehouse Management in the Food / Chemical / Pharmaceutical Industry.
  •     Management and Leadership Skills.
  •     Good Human Resources Management Skills.
  •     Knowledge and awareness of Labour Relations.
  •     Strong Microsoft Office Skills.
  •     Working knowledge of SAP at an advanced / superuser level preferred.
