job description - Telematics Compliance Officer

Main Purpose:

  • Be the single source of information for vehicle telematics (tracking, IVMS, cameras, etc.) serving various internal customers: CSC, B2B, Retail and Aviation.
  • Manage transporter’s tracking systems access.
  • Ensure all trucks moving across South Africa and Eswatini are tracked daily.
  • Ensure all transporters are reporting driver behaviour accurately and consistently.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities, Key Responsibilities:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Geographical Tracking

  • Ensure Puma has access to the telematics systems of all active transporters.
  • Coordinate with schedulers to ensure daily trip plan is created and shared.
  • Ensure all trips/trucks planned for the day are tracked and updates shared at the agreed frequency.
  • Flag out any truck deviation and/or delay timeously to ensure all stakeholders are informed.
  • Communicate and resolve with transporters immediately if telematics information is deficient.

IVMS Monitoring

  • Ensure all trucks have an active IVMS system and are reporting accurately.
  • Monitor the IVMS Dashboard at the country level to advise the Transport Manager on any deviation from targets.
  • Prepare IVMS Dashboard report and present results to Transport Manager
  • Participate in the on-boarding to the company’s IVMS program of new transport companies and tracking systems.
  • Maintain accurate records and produce regular reports on loading and delivery timings, including KPIs and other metrics.
  • Ensuring telematics, tracking, and camera equipment is properly utilized and in good working order.

Internal Processes

  • Propose improved practices to streamline tracking and monitoring processes across Puma South Africa transporters to meet industry best practices.
  • Develop additional KPIs to that are tailor made to the specifics of South Africa logistics environment with regards to On Time performance

REQUIREMENTS

  • Grade 12 (Matric), or Level 4 NVQ certification in areas such as ICT, Electronics, Data Analytics, Computer Science
  • 2-5 years proven experience in vehicle tracking either with transport companies or telematics services suppliers.
  • Understanding of driver behaviour concepts such as harsh breaking and acceleration, over speeding, night driving, etc, will be an advantage.
  • Excellent ability to work under pressure with tight schedules
  • Proven record of accomplishments as being able to self-manage and self-motivate.
  • Knowledge of general business software and aptitude to learn new applications; proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Fluent in English
