  • Magna Carta Reputation Management Consultants, one of South Africa’s largest and most established Public Relations firms (part of the TBWA SA Group), is hiring!
  • We are looking for a driven, hard-working, capable, & stellar candidate to join our PR team in the position of an Account Manager. If you have a passion for public relations and a proven track record of success on behalf of clients, we would love to hear from you.
  • Your job as Account Manager will be to work within the Consumer/Business PR teams on media relations, writing and editing of copy, distributing editorial content to journalists, client liaison, assisting with events and promotions, influencer management, packing of media drops, and admin support. In return, you will get invaluable exposure to PR and event management best practices as well as work on an excellent portfolio of clients.
  • You need to demonstrate a can-do attitude, be a collaborative team player, and have a desire to learn, and have a passion for excellence.
  • While you’ll learn a lot on the job, what you will need to bring to the table is a strong talent when it comes to writing and creative, out-of-the-box thinking, along with a strong knowledge of the South African social media influencer landscape.
  • You need to be a star pitcher with an excellent list of media contacts, a truly outstanding writer, an excellent time manager and understand that public relations are all about service.
  • Minimum of five years’ agency or in-house senior-level client management experience and skills required.
  • This is a hit-the-ground running position. You must know the business of PR inside out and will be required to back up your CV claims with writing and pitch tests, as well as a demonstration of a sound knowledge of the South African media landscape.

Scope of work:

  • Implementation of communications strategy/activation plans/contractual undertakings as directed by the managing director, deputy managing director, senior account director, and account directors
  • Conceptualising, writing, editing, and/or subbing extensive documentation including, but not limited to, press releases, opinion pieces, strategic proposals, and public relations roll-out plans
  • The ability to write to a standard indicated by the managing director, deputy managing director, senior account director, or account directors
  • Contributing to daily meetings, and liaising and updating clients on PR activities, including attending weekly or bi-weekly status meetings.
  • Analysing PR coverage and providing written reports.
  • Day-to-day running of accounts.
  • Follow correct approval channels as agreed by the client and directed by the managing director, deputy managing director, senior account director, and account directors.
  • Continually growing and cultivating a solid media contact base.
  • Media relations related to client accounts.
  • Spearheading both traditional PR and social media projects.
  • Build and maintain a good working relationship with clients.
  • Identify alternative media channels regularly.
  • Manage and exceed client expectations.
  • Fulfil all aspects of the agreed scope of work for the client timeously and to a standard approved by the managing director, deputy managing director, and senior account director.
  • Providing innovative and creative ideas to clients.
  • Communicating effectively with a range of stakeholders.
     

Requirements
