job description - Information Officer

Duties        

The role of the information officer is to be the custodian of all the information platforms of the Centre, as well as assisting with the management of the office. The information officer is responsible for ensuring that all communication that is sent from the Centre is accurate, concise, targeted and easy to understand.

  • Updating existing information platforms such as the website, bursary calendar;
  • Creating new information platforms such as pamphlets, booklets, videos, and other media formats;
  • Facilitating communication with students and other stakeholders based on initial drafts or inputs from the rest of the team;
  • Preparing material for and facilitating various information sessions to inform students and other stakeholders about available bursaries as well as the processes of the Centre;
  • Ensuring that office supplies are ordered, paid for, delivered, and distributed, or made available to the team accordingly;
  • Taking and sharing minutes of office meetings;
  • Ensuring that client services and other stakeholders are informed of all the relevant activities and developments in the Centre;
  • Collecting data and information on client service requirements and activities for reporting purposes.

Job Requirements        

  • B-Degree in marketing or with marketing as a subject, or an equivalent three-year, post-matric qualification;
  • At least one year's experience in or working knowledge of the financial aid environment;
  • Innovative and pursuing continuous improvement;
  • High level of computer literacy;
  • Proven intermediate Excel skills;
  • Proven experience in data capturing, management, analysis, and reporting;
  • Excellent financial management and administrative skills;
  • Effective planning, organisational and prioritisation skills;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, and the ability to function in a multilingual environment;
  • Sound interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team;
  • The ability to function effectively under pressure;
  • The ability to function independently and pay attention to detail;
  • Willingness and availability to work outside normal office hours on own initiative if operationally required.
