job description - IT Business Analyst


  • The Business Analyst’s role is to elicit, analyse, specify, and validate the business needs of stakeholders, be they customers or end users. This includes interviewing stakeholders and gathering and compiling user requirements to understand the technology solutions they need. The Business Analyst will apply proven communication, analytical, and problemsolving skills to help the business make good technology decisions.
  • The Business Analyst  will also be proactive about working with other team members to look for new technologies to optimize business processes. The Business Analyst will play a pivotal role in ensuring IT’s understanding of business requirements.

Requirements:

  • BABOK certification (Advantageous)  (Required),
  • Six-Sigma Black Belt certification (Advantageous)  (Required),
  • University Degree in Computer Science, Informatics or Business Administration (Post Graduate Degree preferred)  (Required)

Required Experience:

  • 6 – 8 years related experience., Ability to create systematic and consistent requirements specifications in both technical and user-friendly language., Clear understanding of product management and market placement., Demonstrated knowledge of the organization’s core business process and operations.,
  • Demonstrated project management skills and project management software skills, including planning, organizing, and managing resources., Excellent understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives., Exceptional analytical and statistical skills with the ability to apply them to systems issues and products as required.,
  • Experience overseeing the design, development, and implementation of software and hardware solutions, systems, or products., Proven experience with business and technical requirements analysis, business process modeling / mapping, elicitation, modeling, verification, methodology development, and data modeling using BPMN notation., Understanding of application development and software development life cycle concepts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and verify requirements for completeness, consistency, comprehensibility, feasibility, and conformity., Assist with the interpretation of user requirements into feasible options and communicate these back to the business stakeholders., Communicate changes, enhancements, and modifications of business requirements and processes – verbally or through written documentation – to project managers, sponsors, and other stakeholders so that issues and solutions are understood., Conduct interviews to gather business requirements via workshops, questionnaires, surveys, site visits, workflow storyboards, use cases, scenarios, and other methods.,
  • Conduct peer reviews of business requirements to ensure that requirement specifications are correctly interpreted., Contributes to selecting the requirements approach, Create process models, specifications, diagrams, and map to provide direction to developers and / or the project team., Defines and manages business requirements, Develop and utilize standard templates to accurately and concisely write requirements specifications.,
  • Establishes requirements base-lines, obtains formal agreement to requirements, and ensures traceability to source., Facilitates input from stakeholders, provides constructive challenge and enables effective prioritisation of requirements., Identify and establish scope and parameters of requirements analysis to define requirement impact, success criteria, and metrics., Manage and track the status of requirements throughout the requirement lifecycle; enforce and redefine as necessary, Map existing business processes in order to define current business activities for the development of procedures and models., Perform user acceptance testing of the requirements., Prepare and deliver, recommendations, or alternatives for improving processes in operating systems across the organization, Provide input to testcases for the requirements.,
  • Research, review, and analyse the effectiveness and efficiency of requirementsgathering and business processes and develop strategies for enhancing or further leveraging these processes., Review and provide input to training manuals where applicable., Translate conceptual user requirements into functional requirements in a clear manner that is comprehensible to developers / project team.,
  • Update to-be processes in line with the requirement outcomes., Where applicable, develop prototypes of interfaces and attributes based on user requirements., Work with stakeholders and project team to prioritize collected requirements.
