job description - Warehousing and Distribution Manager


  • Qualification: 4 year Degree / NQF level 7, Diploma warehousing and distribution CIPS, CSCP
  • Experience in a similar role: Up to 3 years

Duties & Responsibilities    

  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced
  • environment.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and develop a diverse team of warehouse
  • professionals.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to analyse data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions to optimize
  • operations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
  • and external stakeholders.
  • Experience working in an international or multi-national warehouse environment is highly desirable.

Standardization of Warehouses and Stores:

  • Develop and implement standardized warehouse and store processes, including Bin location management, receiving,
  • storage, picking, packing, and distribution.
  • Establish and enforce uniform operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency and efficiency across all
  • warehouse and store locations.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to maintain compliance with organizational standards and industry regulations.
  • Bin location standardization and rationalization in line with SKU management from category and procurement teams.

Stock Management Processes:

  • Oversee all aspects of stock management, from receipt of goods to issuance and repurposing. 
  • Implement robust inventory control measures to minimize stock variances and ensure accurate stock levels across all
  • warehouses and stores.
  • Lead initiatives for stock repurposing, optimizing inventory utilization, and minimizing excess or obsolete stock.

Management of Store Controllers:

  • Recruit, train, and supervise a team of store controllers responsible for day-to-day operations at each warehouse and
  • store location.
  • Provide leadership and direction to store controllers, setting clear performance objectives and KPIs.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide coaching and development opportunities to enhance team
  • capabilities.
