Reporting & Regulatory Compliance

• Coordinates financial reporting efforts and ensures timely and accurate production of financial results, including liaising with external auditors for statutory audits and preparation of statutory financial statements to deliver reports in line with statutory deadlines.
• Works hand in hand with lawyers, sponsors, investors, and auditors to assess the accounting feasibility of intricate business arrangements in a deal (e.g. restructuring, business model, etc.) and their impacts on financial performance.
• Develops strong regulatory and other key stakeholder relationships to provide thought leadership in regulatory reporting
• Advises on the implementation of new accounting standards (e.g. IFRS 9, 15, or 16), including but not limited to: assessing the financial impact of the new standard, advising on changes needed to existing policies and processes to assisting on the redesign and testing of the existing reporting system
• Manages the accounting compliance obligations in the relevant jurisdiction as well as handles regulatory challenges.
• Applies quality assurance, risk management, and confidentiality procedures in all areas of work performed and managed.
• Stays abreast of industry trends, new regulations, and financial reporting requirements that may have an impact on our clients

Accounting & Operations

• Ensures financial transactions are accurately posted on a timely basis and are by all regulatory accounting Policies and Procedures
• Prepares and facilitates accounting training and workshops for junior finance team members and analysts.
• Employs a system of responsible accounting and internal controls to ensure the financial integrity of Sparkle
• Ensures all balance sheet accounts are reconciled every month and a system of internal controls is in place to facilitate a clean audit
• Oversees all payroll activity for staff in conjunction with Human Resources

Treasury Management

• Monitoring and managing Sparkle’s liquidity.
• Ensure adequate cash flow to meet the organization’s needs
• Managing foreign currency exposure and foreign currency payments
• Interest rate risk management and development of risk mitigation strategies
• Foreign exchange risk management and development of foreign exchange risk mitigation strategies

About You:

• Minimum 5 years experience with a public accounting firm or corporate finance function in a global organization
• An advanced degree in Finance or an MBA is desirable
• Ability to work in a dynamic environment that requires critical thinking and strong analytical skills
• Strong communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and ability to create as well as deliver effective presentations
• Manages self and others to provide exceptional client service by responding with a sense of urgency, practicality, accountability, and integrity
• A strategic thinker and self-starter
• Strong understanding of accounting and reporting software
• Advanced in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
