job description - Risk Manager

Job Objective

  • To carry out periodic review, assessment and evaluation of risk issues to ensure that operational and business activities of all members of the group comply with Regulatory Guidelines, Operational Policies and Procedures in order to prevent loss of funds/assets/businesses, regulatory sanctions and other business risks. The overall goal is to identify potential problems before they occur and develop a plan to address them.

Job Duties

  • Facilitate the development and effective implementation of the risk management and compliance frameworks of the company in accordance with regulatory requirements and in line with corporate goals.
  • Assist in the implementation of risk management policies, compliance policies, periodic risk review/ and monitoring of organization-wide risk portfolio.
  • Facilitate the implementation of controls to ensure that the company’s risk issues are timely and properly identified, classified, recorded and monitored for quickly resolution
  • Development and maintenance of risk register, key risk indicator, risk and control self-assessment templates.
  • Participate in the continual review and update of company’s risk policies, compliance policies, guidelines and practices, in line with changes in the company’s business priorities
  • Monitor and prepare periodic reports on the current status of risks and the effectiveness of existing controls for management and board decision making.
  • Ensure, maintain and continuously improve risk and compliance management capabilities and approaches including relating with associate and parent companies on risk management and control issues.
  • Ensure effective implementation of the company’s risk appetite, limits and tolerance levels.
  • Development and maintenance of stress test template to anticipate and identify risk scenarios around business, financial and macroeconomic conditions may affect the company

Qualification

  • A First Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, or Computer Science and professional qualifications as ACA, CFA, ACCA, ACIB would be an added and competitive advantage.

Experience:

  • At least five (5) years banking experience, preferably in Risk Management, Finance, Compliance, Audit or Control.
