job description - Field Supervisor

he Lagos Transit Project

  • In many emerging cities, transit is private: operated by many small bus companies, some so small that they only own a single bus.
  • This system is flexible but can be disorganized and dangerous. In recent years, many cities have invested in formal public transit to replace private transit. But mass rapid transit is costly, and unlikely to replace informal transit anytime soon.
  • This project will study the informal transport industry in Africa’s largest city, Lagos in Nigeria to assess:
    • How the introduction of new travel option affects riders and operators
    • The costs and benefits of informal and decentralized transport provision.
