  • Our client is seeking a dynamic and self-motivated individual with a passion for culinary arts to join their team as a cook. Situated in the heart of Port Harcourt, this position offers an exciting opportunity to oversee the operations of a prestigious kitchen.

Job Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook a wide variety of dishes according to recipes and standards.
  • Ensure all food preparation meets hygiene and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff to maintain smooth operations and ensure timely service.
  • Monitor inventory levels and communicate with the kitchen manager to order supplies.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and food storage areas.
  • Assist in menu planning and development, offering creative input and innovative ideas.
  • Adhere to portion control guidelines and minimize waste to maximize profitability.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays, as required.

Qualifications / Skills

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: 1 - 2 years
  • Culinary degree or certification from a recognized culinary institution (preferred but not always required).
  • Any relevant food safety certifications.
  • Proficiency in various cooking techniques, including grilling, baking, sautéing, frying, and roasting.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in handling and storing food.
  • Ability to follow recipes accurately and consistently to maintain quality and consistency.
  • Experience with menu planning and ingredient sourcing.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively coordinate with kitchen staff and communicate with other departments.
  • Time management skills to prioritize tasks and ensure timely preparation of meals.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing menus and dietary restrictions.
  • Physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift heavy objects.
  • Creativity and innovation to develop new dishes and adapt existing recipes.
  • Attention to detail to ensure presentation and taste meet expectations.
