job description - Content Editor

  • Provide leadership and guidance to the editorial team, setting the tone for the company's editorial approach.
  • Develop and implement editorial strategies to align with the company's goals and audience expectations.
  • Oversee the planning, creation, editing, and publication of news articles, features, and multimedia content.
  • Ensure all content is factually accurate, well-researched, and adheres to the highest journalistic standards.
  • Manage a team of editors, reporters, and writers, assigning tasks, setting deadlines, and conducting performance evaluations.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment that encourages creativity and excellence.
  • Work closely with journalists and writers to develop compelling story ideas, series, and coverage plans.
  • Review and edit articles, providing constructive feedback to improve writing quality and clarity.
  • Monitor audience feedback, analytics, and trends to make data-driven decisions on content creation and distribution.
  • Identify opportunities to engage with the audience through reader feedback, comments, and social media interactions.
  • Encourage the integration of multimedia elements, including images, videos, infographics, and interactive features, to enhance storytelling.
  • Ensure that the company's editorial guidelines, ethics, and policies are consistently followed.
  • Uphold journalistic integrity and credibility in all aspects of content production.
  • Collaborate with other departments, including marketing, technology, and business development, to align editorial strategies with company objectives.
  • Provide training, mentoring, and professional development opportunities for editorial staff to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Conduct regular reviews and audits of content to maintain quality and consistency.
  • Address any issues related to accuracy, tone, and style.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in editorial roles, with a minimum of 2 years in a senior editorial position.
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Exceptional leadership and team management abilities.
  • Deep understanding of online news industry trends and digital media platforms.
  • Proficiency in content management systems (CMS) and digital publishing tools.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
