job description - Business Development Officer


  • A Business Development Officer is responsible for overseeing the implementation of business development strategies to increase company profitability and promote longevity of the company.
  • Main duty here is to identify business opportunities to pursue and create business proposals to support these ideas.

Duties / Responsibilities

  • Analyze current and past financial data and provide strategies to cut costs and increase revenue for the company.
  • Lead market research activities and ensure efficient planning and implementation of these plans to identify new business opportunities.
  • Work with the management to implement marketing strategies and new opportunities.
  • Encourage new and existing clients by creating and improving business proposals.
  • Ensure that the company meets revenue targets.
  • Develop and pitch ideas for potential investors and/or partnerships.
  • Participate in company meetings with company management and individual departments to discuss potential business opportunities and implement policy changes to achieve business strategies.
  • Meet with potential investors and.or partners in-person to pitch the company to them and achieve a new investor and/or partner relationship.

Education and Experience

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or another related field.
  • Associate degree or certificate in business is preferred
  • Graduate Degree, such as an MBA is also preferred.
  • Demonstrated marketing experience and a firm grasp on budgeting and finance.
  • At least 3 years demonstrated experience as a Business Development Officer or experience working in similar positions, such as a Business Developer – having implemented business, marketing, finance or sales roles successfully.
