Job Title: Financial Control Officer
Description
- The Financial Control Officer will be responsible for ensuring the bank’s financial integrity by overseeing financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and budget management. The role involves working closely with the senior management team to provide accurate financial insights that support strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting and Analysis:

- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements in compliance with regulatory and internal requirements.
- Conduct detailed financial analysis to provide insights into the bank’s performance.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for senior management and regulatory authorities.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all financial regulations, including CBN guidelines and IFRS standards.
- Liaise with external auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory bodies to ensure timely audits and filings.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Assist in preparing the bank’s annual budget and financial forecasts.
- Monitor budget performance and provide variance analysis with recommendations.
Internal Controls and Risk Management:
- Develop and implement financial controls to safeguard the bank’s assets.
- Identify potential financial risks and propose mitigation strategies.
Expense Management:
- Monitor operational expenses and implement cost-control measures.
- Review and approve financial transactions to ensure compliance with policies.
Collaboration and Reporting:
- Work closely with the finance and operations teams to align financial goals with operational plans.
- Provide management with actionable insights to improve financial efficiency and sustainability.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. A professional certification such as ICAN, ACCA, or CFA is required.
- Minimum of 5–7 years of experience in financial management or control, preferably in the banking or microfinance sector.
- Strong understanding of Nigerian tax laws, financial regulations, and IFRS standards.
- Demonstrated ability to manage financial reporting and budgeting processes effectively.
