JOB TITLE: Account Officer
JOB LOCATION: Port Harcourt, Rivers

JOB DETAILS:
- We are seeking a detail-oriented and self-motivated Account Officer to join our team in Port Harcourt. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and organizational policies.
- This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple financial tasks efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
- Record all financial transactions in a timely and organized manner.
Account Management:
- Monitor and reconcile account balances.
- Prepare bank reconciliations and ensure accurate cash flow records.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable.
Reporting:
- Prepare periodic financial reports, including income statements and balance sheets.
- Provide support during internal and external audits.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts.
- Monitor expenditures against budgets and report variances.
Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and company policies.
- File tax returns and ensure timely payment of statutory obligations.
Customer and Vendor Relations:
- Liaise with customers and vendors regarding account issues and payments.
- Resolve discrepancies and respond to inquiries promptly.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field with 2-5 years experience.
- Professional certification (ICAN, ACCA, or equivalent) is an advantage.
- Proven experience as an account officer or in a similar role.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- High level of integrity and attention to detail.
Key Competencies:
- Knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Work Conditions:
- Full-time position based in Port Harcourt.
