JOB DETAILS:n
- In collaboration with the National TB and Leprosy Control Program (NTBLCP) as the Principal Recipient (PR), KNCV Nigeria will roll out the implementation of Portable digital X-ray for Active TB Case finding (IMPACT Project) under the Global Fund Grant Cycle 7 (GC7) and will deploy 390 Portable digital Xray’s across all states of the Federation and the FCT to improve TB case finding.
- The IMPACT Project will scale up the utilization of portable digital X-rays (PDX) with Artificial Intelligence (AI) for TB case finding in hotspot communities and high burden facilities across all 36 states in Nigeria and the FCT. The objective of this project is:
- To drive targeted TB screening within identified TB Hot spots, most at risk population and high burden facilities.
- To improve the diagnostic efficiency of the molecular diagnostic tools eg TB LAMP, GeneXpert and Truenat.
- To ensure early TB case finding within the community and thus limiting TB transmission and infection.
- To drive the TB program, scale up of TPT by identifying non presumptive TB among contacts of diagnosed TB cases in the community for TPT.
Purpose of the Job
- The primary purpose of this role is to assist in performing high-quality diagnostic imaging procedures under the supervision of a licensed Radiographer.
- The X-ray Technician will support patient preparation, operate radiographic equipment, maintain accurate records, and adhere to radiation safety protocols.
- This role is crucial in ensuring optimal patient care and safety while contributing to the efficiency and effectiveness of the radiography team.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing and positioning patients for X-ray procedures, ensuring their comfort and safety.
- Operate radiographic equipment to capture high-quality diagnostic images under the supervision of a Radiographer.
- Adjust imaging parameters according to specific diagnostic needs as directed.
- Maintain accurate records of radiographic procedures and patient information.
- Ensure compliance with all radiation safety protocols to minimize exposure risks.
- Perform routine maintenance and quality control checks on radiographic equipment.
- Assist in troubleshooting equipment malfunctions and coordinate with technical support for repairs.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development activities.
- Support and adhere to the facility’s policies and procedures.
- Work closely with the State TB and Leprosy Control program (STBLCP) to ensure optimal use of the Portable Digital X-rays for Active TB case finding in Hotspot communities.
Who are we looking for?
Education:
- Diploma in Radiography Technology from a Recognized School of health Technology
Knowledge/experience:
- Valid practicing license or certification as an X-ray Technician.
- Valid practicing license from the Radiographers Registration Board of Nigeria (RRBN).
- Member of the Association of Medical and X-ray Technicians of Nigeria (AMEXITON)
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a clinical setting.
- Proficiency in operating digital radiography equipment.
- Strong knowledge of radiation safety and protection protocols.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physical fitness to handle the demands of the role, including standing for long periods and moving equipment.
- Must possess an Android phone for reporting and communication purposes.
- Computer literacy and proficiency with digital equipment.
- Ability to manage official information in a confidential manner.
- Ability to multitask and work well under pressure to meet deadlines.
